Lake Education, Outreach and Stewardship

Lake Coeur d’Alene is not only central to the identity of Kootenai county, its health and preservation is crucial to the vitality of our region. Connect Kootenai is committed to collaboration among community partners dedicated to the enhancement of river habitats and riparian environments, maintained waterways, and shorelines that are distinctive features of the community. Connect Kootenai is supporting this initiative by working toward the implementation of educational programs and resources that will emphasize the importance of the lake and river to the community and educate the public about responsible stewardship as a part of the Our Gem Coeur d’Alene Lake Collaborative. This year’s efforts will include conducting a community survey on lake issues, which will lead to the distribution of educational materials on what community members can do to maintain a healthy lake and river. Connect Kootenai aims to explore opportunities with the Our Gem Coeur d’Alene Lake Collaborative for creating a demonstration riparian site, to educate on the ecosystem of the riverbanks.
